Los guantes de protección desechables comercializados como Equipos de Protección Individual (EPI) son muy similares en apariencia a los guantes que son Productos Sanitarios (PS). Sin embargo existen diferencias importantes en cuanto a su finalidad, que deben entenderse bien.

En determinados ámbitos es necesario abordar con un mismo guante un doble fin, de tal forma que si el guante se destina a proteger al paciente y al trabajador simultáneamente debe cumplir con dos reglamentaciones. Es el caso de los guantes de uso dual. El objetivo del siguiente documento es abordar de forma sencilla diferencias y aspectos técnicos a considerar en los guantes de uso dual.

Disposable protective gloves available in the market as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are similar in appearance to many gloves which are Medical Devices (MD). However, there are differences between both kind of products in terms of their intended use that must be well understood. In some situations, it is required for a single glove to comply with a double use, that is protecting the worker and the patient. Consequently the glove must comply with two Regulations. The purpose of this document is to highlight some of the differences and technical aspects applicable to gloves with a dual use.
