- The Junctional Emergency Treatment Tool™ (JETT®) includes two pressure devices in a single tool, allowing for simultaneous occlusion of blood flow to both lower limbs (bilateral) with an easy to apply, pre-assembled, ready-to-use belt solution. The unique design of the JETT® allows for patient transport while the device is in place and includes a lanyard and toggle solution to ensure that the Windlass Axle does not loosen due to vibration or bumps during transport. In cases where there are bilateral injuries, the JETT® offers a simple, safe solution for occluding blood flow to both lower extremities. This expanded capability is built into every JETT®, meaning that with standardized application training the device will be pre-positioned for rapid bilateral deployment whether applying for a unilateral or bilateral injury.High extremity wounds in the thigh/groin region where tourniquets cannot be placed or are less effective require equipment such as the JETT® to stop the bleeding and potentially save the life of a casualty that would otherwise bleed out in minutes. Penetrating trauma, blast injuries and amputation are examples of injuries that may require treatment with this device.

The Junctional Emergency
Treatment Tool (JETT™) includes two pressure devices in a single tool,
allowing for simultaneous occlusion of blood flow to both lower limbs
(bilateral) with an easy to apply, pre-assembled, ready-to-use belt
solution. The unique design of the JETT™ allows for patient transport
while the device is in place and includes a lanyard and toggle solution
to ensure that the Windlass Axle does not loosen due to vibration or
bumps during transport.
In cases where there are bilateral injuries, the JETT™ offers a
simple, safe solution for occluding blood flow to both lower
extremities. This expanded capability is built into every JETT™, meaning
that with standardized application training the device will be
pre-positioned for rapid bilateral deployment whether applying for a
unilateral or bilateral injury.
High extremity wounds in the thigh/groin region where tourniquets
cannot be placed or are less effective require equipment such as the
JETT™ to stop the bleeding and potentially save the life of a casualty
that would otherwise bleed out in minutes. Penetrating trauma, blast
injuries and amputation are examples of injuries that may require
treatment with this device.
Tourniquets have been a part of medical kits carried by field medics for centuries now, but wars change and so do the types of injuries suffered by soldiers. Powerful
bombs have become a common way to attack armies, often leading to
severe injuries of the lower anatomy that traditional tourniquets cannot
address.
The Junctional Emergency Treatment Tool (JETT™) |
North American Rescue of Greer, SC just received FDA
clearance for the JETT Junctional Emergency Treatment Tool that is
designed to control acute bleeding in the groin and inguinal region.
Applied like a belt, the device includes two pressure pads that can be
positioned directly on the wound site and tightened to occlude blood
flow from both or either of the lower limbs. Here’s a video released by
the company demonstrating the functionality and features of the JETT:
More from North American Rescue:
The JETT provides two pressure pads in a single device with the ability to treat both unilateral and bilateral injuries, thereby stopping blood flow to the lower extremities without impeding respiration. It is configured for easy, rapid deployment and comes pre-assembled and ready for use in a compact, vacuum-sealed pouch. Additionally, the JETT is designed to allow for patient movement without dislodging or reducing pressure, enabling it to be effectively utilized in the prehospital environment.
Another key advantage is that the JETT is a mechanical device rather than a pneumatic or air inflated device, which means that it maintains steady pressure on the injury regardless of atmospheric pressure changes, and is rugged enough to withstand the rigors of austere environments without fear of puncture or damage to an air bladder.
