The TCCC update discussed the JAN 2024 updates:
✓Supraglottic / extraglottic airways were removed after identifying they were rarely or ever used, when used as a marker of bad outcome, and not tolerant to extremes of temperature.
✓After reviewing the NPAs in IFAKs and aidebags their sizing and length were inconsistent, may cause obstruction if too long, and of limited benefit. Though not removed, they have been de-emphasized.

SOMA2024 - Multiple authors of a recent review of tourniquet use in Ukraine presented the issues they are seeing with widespread tqt application and prolonged tqt wear:
Its not uncommon that tqts applied by private citizens and infantrymen don’t get any medic evaluation until often for over 6 hours.
They noted the environment that led to tqt success over the last 20 years are very different in Ukraine.
Tactical tqt placement is appropriate in some settings, but they need re-evaluation before permanent limb loss can occur.

Dr McClellan said endotracheal tubes used for surgical airways will always migrate into the right mainstem, even if sutured in place.
If they’re used, they should be converted to tracheostomy tubes as soon as possible.
