The terrorist threat is real. These agents can create lots of casualties and victims and every responder needs to be prepared. It is not only terrorism, many of these chemicals are on our streets and rails every day. Emerging infectious diseases are just as dangerous. This book provides healthcare responders the information needed to initiate the correct medical response and treatment actions in a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) terrorist incidents and other mass casualty events. The book describes various threat agents, and the signs and symptoms of exposure to them and select the proper treatment. It also identifies special threats to healthcare providers, such as secondary contamination.
