An eight-year-old boy in Bolivia was hospitalized after allowing a black widow spider to bite him, believing it would give him Spider-Man-like powers.
The child reportedly found the spider under a stone near his home in Vichuloma and placed it on his hand to provoke a bite.
Within hours, he developed severe muscle pain and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors administered antivenom.
He later recovered. Local health authorities urged parents to educate children about venomous creatures, warning that black widows can be deadly and definitely don’t grant superpowers.
