ACT Tourniquet

The ACT-Tourniquet is a simple, cost-effective and intuitive pull and stretch tourniquet for self-application or for other casualties. The ACT-Tourniquet provides a quick and effective solution to stop massive bleeding and save lives in an emergency situation.

Designed to allow public access to bleeding control in a compact affordable manner
Packed pre-looped for easy self-application, the loop can be separated to attach the tourniquet around the leg or an entrapped limb
Material can be written upon to record time of placement
Manufactured from bespoke high visibility elastic and military grade webbing materials
Allows for circumferential compression that occludes blood flow to the affected limb from the first pull

The application is as simple as Apply, Compress and Tuck:

Apply (Arm)Insert upper limb through loop, place high

Apply (Leg)
Unbuckle and re-buckle around lower limb, place high

Compress
Tighten Strap through buckle and wrap around limb as tight as possible

Tuck
Tuck tail of strap under itself during final wrap around limb and pull tight. Check often and after any movement of casualty. Record time of placement

H&H Medical Corporation adds to our growing line of hemorrhage control products with one of the most rugged windlass tourniquets on the market, the Military Emergency Tourniquet - GEN III. Designed by formal special operations warfighters and proven in combat service for almost a decade, the MET GEN III is designed to be used in the most austere of environments.

The MET is a lightweight open-loop system composed of a sturdy strap and aluminum windlass. As a true open-loop system, this tourniquet comes apart completely to place around a limb and doesn’t need to be fully cinched down prior to engaging the windlass; even if loosely applied, by turning the windlass the slack will uptake and fully tighten the tourniquet. It has two securing points to lock down the windlass after application: one that is adjustable and one with Velcro.

SAVE TOURNIQUET

According to the Advanced Trauma Life Support (as published by the American College of Surgeons), a patient experiencing a Class 3 Hemorrhage injury will sustain a pulse rate exceeding 120 BPM. Under these conditions, the patient will be losing approximately 1.2 liter of blood per minute – or – .2 liters every 10 seconds. Hemorrhaging at this pace will result in:

Class 2 Shock occurs after 40 seconds of blood loss.

Class 3 shock occurs after 80 seconds of blood loss.

After 90 seconds of a Class 3 Hemorrhage, the patient will begin to lose fine motor control and the ability to process complex decisions.

At. 2.1 seconds to attain femoral artery occlusion, the SAVE TOURNIQUET requires 1/10th the time to apply under the stress of patient care. More importantly, the blood loss associated with the SAVE TOURNIQUET is 210 cc’s compared to 2500 cc’s of blood loss by the windlass tourniquet.

The goal was to engineer a tourniquet that was immediately intuitive; to provide speed, targeted compression and could be applied with gross motor skills that are already ingrained into procedural memory (such as push, turn and pull maneuvers). In other words;
